Canine First Aid Training

Why Canine First Aid

Our Canine First Aid courses are trained by our head trainer, Cam Smith. When we asked him why he loved this course so much, he said the following.

As the husband of a fiercely passionate and talented dog groomer, our passion for dogs drives us to ensure that every pet owner, pet industry worker and pet lover knows how to properly care for their pet in the unfortunate event of an accident or sudden illness.

Our training background.

Having been involved with dogs since before I was able to walk (my parents bred Cocker Spaniels and were Dog Wardens for our local authority for over 30 years) and having bred Spaniels myself for 20 years alongside my wife Emma, I have a strong knowledge of anything Canine and there is very little that I haven’t experienced.

In addition to this, my work overseas with organisations such as the Natal Sharks board, have given me a diverse background and animal resume, with wide ranging experience across many species.

Our a Canine First Aid Course.

I trained as a Canine First Aid instructor with Protrainings and achieved approved training centre status in May 2017.  Protrainings are the market leaders in this area and their founder, Keith Sleightholm was the first to put a course together that was accredited by the Ofqual regulated TQUK and to my knowledge remains the only company approved to train Canine First Aid to this level.

As such I am able to bring a wealth of practical, hands on knowledge and experience to my courses, alongside a commitment to ongoing learning and regular skills updates.

What will I learn?

Our comprehensive courses will give you the confidence to act in an emergency and could help you make all the difference to an injured animal giving it the best possible chance of recovery.

At approximately four hours long, our course will cover how to care for an unconscious dog as well as commonly occurring injuries and illnesses, including dealing with choking, drowning, bleeding, fitting, poisoning and much more.

The course is run in small groups, with hands on experience using our specially designed dog cpr manikins and practical training aids.

We make our courses more interesting than your typical first aid course by using our huge supply of interactive training aids and devices, from our bespoke canine cpr dummies to our choking trainer and airway models, we will help you learn and master the techniques that could save your pets life.
